Halloween!

Hi Family,
I'm finally posting Halloween pictures (since it is almost Thanksgiving...). So for this year I decided to be Princess Peach from Super Mario Brothers, and it worked out because I talked Cyrus into being Mario!

Name Swap for Christmas

So you don't have to search your emails....Here is the Christmas Name Swap for 2008. One family (kids included) gives to another family (kids included) with a whole-family gift. Or, if you really, really want to do a single gift for the individual family members, that's fine. Start prepping your "wish lists" because you KNOW you're going to get a call from your sibling asking what you could really use this year. We want to get you something useful that you want! :)

Mystery, Inc.

Pictured from Left to Right: Velma, Freddie, Daphne, Shaggy (the doll) and Scooby-Doo.

The girls looked pretty good in the afternoon but as the evening went on they were looking a little worse for wear. Shaggy used to have hair but Claire tore that off right away, however he did keep his whiskers. Quite a few people thought Daryn was a bomber pilot... her "wig" looked more like a pilot helmet than hair. What do you think? Does she pass for Velma?

Claire definitely had a better idea of what Halloween was about this year. She was putting those candies in the bag without hestitaion. Trunk-or-Treat was a lot of fun and she ran around with the other kiddos on the church stage. And then on Halloween, we just drove around visiting families in our ward and Riverside's employees. We had our first real Thiel pumpkin... Claire was pretty grossed out but she liked to wave hi and bye to the jack-o-lantern in the end.

Congratulations Robert & Heather!

Check out our cousin Robert & Heather's blog. They're expecting a baby in May 2009. What an awesome month for babies in the family!

Crazy Hair Day

Today was Crazy Hair Day at Jared's school. He was very hesitant when we talked about it yesterday, but this morning, he was all for it! I borrowed hair colors from a friend and we just had a blast this morning spraying colors on Jared's hair. He kept running to the mirror to check his reflection. He is wearing the orange tie-dye t-shirt we made last week at Charise's house -- the first time I've done a "real" craft project from the Family Fun magazine (which is the best, by the way).

Trunk or Treat!

Horray for Trunk-Or-Treat. The safest, fastest way to load little kids up on sugar! Wooot!

Here are our family pictures from last night's big event. Tom won 1st place in the pumpkin carving contest. We can attribute that to 2 things: Chuck didn't enter a pumpkin this year (he's awesome at it!) and the "YES ON 8" message was a home-run political hit with the conservative mormon base who was voting for the pumpkins. I was joking when I told him to carve "Yes on 8" on there, but he totally took me seriously and did it! Sigh. Only 4 more days of this craziness anyway... Cross your fingers!

Yes, I have to make scapulas for Jared. He LOVED seeing a big kid with the same costume! He commented, "That boy is big enough for a pelvic bone." (Jared's body was too small so I told him we were just not going to make a pelvic bone for his costume until he was a little taller.)

FHE Halloween Party

We went to a friend's Family Home Evening Halloween party on Monday night. Great fun! Tom and I won best couple costume for our (*ahem* recycled *ahem*) 2 1/2 Musketeers costumes (the little bag held the prize). They had a lighted-from-below in-ground trampoline in the backyard where all the little kids played. You can see how curly Jared's hair gets when you add moisture! (And you can see how dazed he looks when he stays up even 10 minutes past 7:30pm bedtime.)

Getting ready for Halloween

Ahh, Halloween...when mom gets out her cool pumpkin plate and makes delicious pumpkin muffins. She even made me this awesome skeleton costume! My favorite bone is the femur.

Jared & Clark

I just wanted to include two photos of Jared and his friend, Clark. I take them to the Tuesday morning library reading group where they do crafts at the end. Check out Jared's "Bat" -- he did his own thing and it is decidedly more like a beaver. Ha ha! We then checked out the week's requisite dinosaur and shark books.

New Price Baby Coming!

Congratulations to Kirk & Lindsay who announced they are expecting their second baby in May 2009! We are all SOO thrilled to have a new cousin in the works and for Emily to have a little sibling to enjoy. Kirk & Lindsay announced to the family with a creative personalized card with a poem and an ultrasound picture scanned inside. We all received our special announcement cards around the same day! It was a great surprise. Good luck with your pregnancy, Lindsay!
