Well we tried...

We tried to get the girls to sit next to each other for a nice loving Valentine's Day picture and this is what we got:
So Happy Valentine's Day family!!!
Daryn gets too excited with Claire around and it usually involves hair pulling. This was as close as Claire was going to get. Actually kind of reminded me of all of us growing up... Nostalgia...
Here's some videos of the kids. I know, I know, I'm subjecting you to home videos, but these are some of our "better" moments of late and we like to put on a good face. They sure beat documenting green poos, snot-encrusted faces, and screaming in terror at the sound of running water :)
Daryn is getting solids these days, and has been refusing to eat pretty much anything but here's one success:

And Claire... Well she's 2. And she dressed herself that day. I, however, insisted on the undies and the sweatshirt.

One month

It has been one month since Laura joined our family! Here she is.

Thank you, Krystle, for sharing your girls' super-cute dress with Laura! We love it.

Ooooo -- one funny picture to make you laugh.

Four Generations of Awesome Women

On Laura's Blessing Day, Feb. 1, 2009

more silliness

Arrrg! Pirate Jared makes appearances daily at our house.

Kendra will appreciate the "stink eye" we caught on camera here.

Classic kid picture...McKayden, McDreamy and McScreamy

Oooo, Laura's favorite silly look, the pursed lips! I guess I didn't help the situation with the silly hat and silly gloves (but hey, her nails are very sharp).

Laura's Blessing Gown

My wonderful friend, Tiffney, made this beautiful ivory blessing gown and matching bonnet by hand and gave it to us as a gift for Laura. It is gorgeous! She found perfect organic fabrics up in the Bay Area, with super-soft silky liner for baby's comfort. Laura slept peacefully during the blessing (phew!). I plan to do more photographs in better lighting of Laura in this dress and the bonnet next month; our day passed too quickly for me to spend the time I would like taking photos of her. It's not often you get to dress up in a special outfit made by a special person for a special day!

Isn't it beautiful? I am very impressed with Tiff's talents and her generous heart. Thank you!

My favorite part of this morning, besides the beautiful words of Tom's blessing for Laura, was how happy and proud he looked when he held her up to show the congregation. I know it's an unofficial tradition to do the "baby show", but it was so touching to see how carefully he was holding her and how proud he looked. He loves his babies so much and I love that about him!

Grandparents!

Grandma Stephanie and Grandpa Ray holding baby Laura during their visit this weekend. They flew into town for her baby blessing and Corbin's 9th birthday. As always, we felt the visit was much too short!

Special 3 Generation Trip

For Jared's fourth birthday, Tom and his dad, Don, took Jared on a special train trip to the San Diego Zoo. This was especially touching since Don took Tom on the same train trip when TOM turned four years old -- and we have pictures of that trip in a little notebook from 1983.

Jared came home raving about the "gondo-wa!" (the gondola ride) that took him high above houses and the zoo. The tiger was another hit -- he came right up to the glass where Jared was standing. Usually they're just sleeping far off in the corner, so Jared got a great view!

New Address

Kenneth was transferred from Baytown, TX, where he had been serving these past months; he is now serving in "mini-Mexico" in downtown Houston! He says some areas nearby are definitely not safe ones, but they are meeting great people there who are anxious to improve their lives.
He was just asked to be the District Leader, which is thrilling and a lot of responsibility.

Laura and Bobo

Laura with "Bobo" the elephant, her 10-day-old picture (we did the same with Jared and his horse, Shasta, for the first year).

This is why you have to be quick with the camera...

Two seconds later...Waaahh!
