Thiel Vacation

So after Beatrix and Mark's wedding (it was so fun to be with everyone) the Thiels went off to Yosemite. We stayed in the valley in a canvas cabin, ate at their cafeteria, went hiking and tried not to get freaked out by all the videos about bears eating small children. Ok, that last part isn't exactly accurate: the videos were about bears breaking into your car/cabin/anything with food or even the hint of food... Krystle just made the jump to the small children part. But after the initial fears wore off it was really fun. It is a seriously impressive part of the country.

Claire had her moments - This one was a breakdown during the ranger talk at Glacier point - but for the most part really enjoyed hiking and eating dirt. No we didn't feed her dirt, that was her own call. Her favorite food is now a toss between dirt and chocolate milk at the cafeteria.

Hmmm... maybe that contributed to the bout of car sickness that she experienced on the way back to Sacramento... That was a fun one. There was somethink about vomiting on a car trip that kind of made us feel like a "real" family. Anyways, it's an amazing part of the country. Just watch out for those rolling hills on the way out! ~Krystle

6 months

Ok, ok, here's the latest photo of the pregnancy. I just began the 6th month. As of two days ago, the baby is about 8 1/2 inches from head to bottom (about 14 if she were laid out full-length) and weighs about 1 1/2 pounds. She still has enough room to really move, which makes it fun for people who sit next to me. They can see AND feel the action. We have great news - everything is fine with the placenta! We'd been praying for it to "migrate" on its own and it appears that it has done just that. Horray! I'm back to walking with my neighbor and it feels wonderful to be out there moving. She pushes J in the jogging stroller and I heft the tummy along. Tom's sister, Karen, gave me her pregnancy support belt a while ago and I wear it every time I exercise. I love how it helps prevent the lower-tummy pains.

Fall is my favorite time of year to be outside in the mornings. It's perfect. ~Kathryn

First Day of School

Our little guy has a great time at his "totally nut-free" school (this, of course, does not take into account the moms). ~Kathryn

What's going to happen to Princess

Hello Family,

I was looking for a nice Papillion to adopt, and I came across this poor mutt:

The poor thing broke both her front legs after jumping off the bed. Mom and Dad, we will need to keep Princess on the ground to avoid future 2500 dollar vet bills. ~Kendra

Cute little friends

Jared with his friend, Clark. They get along really well. They both need a brother -- Clark is the only boy with 5 sisters...including twin infant girls. ~Kathryn

Ready or not - it's preschool time!

Jared's "thing" this month is spelling out words with his little magnets and wooden pieces. He's been doing names for a while (I love how he spells mine just as he says it). The 4th picture, however, takes a little more to figure out (Hint: it's a movie title). Any guesses?
